The aim of the training is to provide team managers with elements they can use to create a 1:1 conversation format suited to them and meeting their objectives, while focusing primarily on the employee’s needs and on noticing them. Such conversations are also a good way for a manager to notice early signs of stress, overload or declining motivation. The second aim of the training is to provide an overview of how, from a manager’s perspective, to prevent and identify these mental health challenges as effectively as possible.
Topics covered in the training:
- The purpose and meaning of the conversation: operational day-to-day conversations versus an annual developmental conversation.
- Preparing for the conversation and involving the employee.
- Giving recognition in a genuine and sincere way.
- Coaching feedback and feedforward: when, why and how?
- Warning signs indicating mental health problems and how to talk to the employee about them.
- Coping with possible reactions.
The content portion of the training lasts 4.5 hours in total = 6 academic hours.
