In November, Lithuanian Gastronomy Week invites you to discover new flavours, learn about the origins of ingredients and experience gastronomy in a different way. To mark the occasion, we invite you to a special tasting evening bringing together the character of Lithuanian produce, the traditions of local makers and Italian olive culture.

OLIO NUOVO È ARRIVATO! – the new-harvest olive oil has arrived!

The evening’s highlight is the new-harvest Italian extra virgin olive oil “ZERO”. Together, we’ll discover its aroma, intensity of flavour and unexpected pairings with Lithuanian ingredients.

We want to discover and present not only inspiration from world gastronomy, but also what is made close to home, here in Druskininkai. So, to begin the dinner, we’ll taste SAKA family rye bread baked here in Druskininkai, whose simplicity and authentic flavour will meet the character of Italian new-harvest olive oil.

How will this oil reveal itself alongside Lithuanian vegetables, trout, game and aged cheese? Join us to taste, compare and discover!

EVENING TASTING MENU

1. The bread tradition of Druskininkai – SAKA family rye bread
SAKA family rye bread baked in Druskininkai, served with new-harvest “ZERO” Italian extra virgin olive oil.

2. Harmony of Lithuanian vegetables
Stewed and fresh spinach, peppers and fennel, bringing out the flavour of new-harvest olive oil.

3. Trout and artichoke pairing
Slow-cooked trout reduction, artichoke carpaccio and new-harvest “ZERO” olive oil.

4. Fallow deer tenderloin tartare
“Alla romana” artichoke, Lithuanian “Memel Blu” and new-harvest “ZERO” olive oil.

5. An interpretation of Sicilian flavours
Sicilian pasta timballo with characterful Calabrian ’nduja.

6. The evening’s sweet finale
A dessert by the chef at Astra.
