Join us for a Napoleon cake masterclass, where we’ll explore one of Europe’s best-loved classic desserts. The masterclass will tell the story of Napoleon cake: its French culinary heritage, its journey into Eastern European cuisine, and the special place it held on holiday tables during the Soviet era. For many, it is also an authentic taste of childhood: crisp, thin layers of pastry, delicate cream, and the special feeling of a cake that tastes best after it has had time to mature.
In the masterclass, we’ll learn how to make Napoleon cake, from preparing the dough properly and rolling out thin layers to baking, making the cream, assembling the cake, and letting it mature. We’ll focus on the details that shape the result: how to achieve crisp, evenly baked layers; how to choose and prepare the cream; how much to use between the layers; and how to let the cake rest until it becomes tender and moist without losing its distinctive texture.
We’ll also discuss when to make Napoleon cake so it is ready at just the right time, and how to serve it properly. You’ll learn why this cake needs time and how maturing changes both the pastry’s texture and its flavour.
To finish, we’ll enjoy the Napoleon cake we’ve made together and return to that simple, familiar taste that many associate with childhood celebrations, family meals, and special occasions. This masterclass is suitable both for those who want to learn to make an authentic Napoleon cake for the first time and for those who want to refine a recipe they already know and understand what makes a cake turn out perfectly.
Bring your curiosity, appetite, and desire to create a dessert that brings together French classics, Soviet-era nostalgia, and a modern understanding of quality pastry.
