A visual strengths map is a visual self-development and reflection method that helps you notice, articulate and make visible your inner strengths, resources, values and supportive experiences. Creating the map brings together photographs, collages, symbols, colours and keywords in a cohesive visual whole, which can be used to support personal development as well as in professional counselling and development work.
The method is based on the principles of therapeutic photography, where a photograph is treated not as an artistic outcome but as a tool for self-discovery and dialogue. Photographs, visual images and symbols help express what can sometimes be difficult to put into words, supporting awareness, self-understanding and strengths-based development.
During the workshop, participants will learn about the visual strengths map method and create their own personal map step by step. The process includes:
- Mapping strengths and resources
- Choosing inspiring photographs, collage elements, symbols and keywords
- Creating a visual strengths map through hands-on creative work
- Reflecting on the map and exploring its meaning
The result is a personal visual strengths map—an inspiring and practical tool that helps you use your strengths more consciously, supports goal-setting, and can be used for self-management and to support mental well-being.
The workshop uses personal or locally selected photographs, collage techniques and visual-thinking approaches, therapeutic photography exercises, strengths-focused questions and reflection methods, and creative materials.
The workshop takes place in the cosy Tefo Stuudio at Põhjala Factory (Ankru 8, Tallinn).
It is led by Erika Tuulik, who has completed EKA AA photography and therapeutic photography at Robert Gordon University (U.K., Aberdeen).
Group size: up to 6 participants, allowing for a safe and supportive environment. The small group allows each participant to work at their own pace, receive individual guidance and take part in a supportive and inspiring shared creative process.
Workshop duration: 2.5 hours
