“Fog” is a dreamlike psychological drama in which reality blends with the worlds of memory, fantasy and magic. The play tells the story of a young woman named Ema. After many years, Ema returns to visit her childhood home, where she remembers being happy and believing in tomorrow. But a family she does not know has been living there for some time. Ema gets to know them pleasantly, and they invite her inside. That is how she finds herself in her childhood room...

Try to imagine that you live with your beloved family in a cosy home, and one day a stranger appears in your apartment doorway, casually mentioning that this used to be her childhood home. You kindly invite your unexpected guest inside, and she decides not to leave. What would you do?

Now imagine that, late one autumn evening, overcome by profound loneliness, you happen to find yourself near your childhood home. You look up at the lit window of your childhood room and, before you know it, you are standing at the door of your former home… You need so little: just a brief conversation with another person, a quiet encounter with your childhood memories, with a time when belief was still alive. Belief in the world, in people, in your unquestionably bright future. But that home is no longer yours, and the people living there do not want you around… What would you do?

The creators of the play invite the audience to see the same story twice, from different angles. Could it be that every story has two, three, or perhaps a thousand or a million possible ways of being seen? It turns out that, at least when a story is shrouded in fog, this is indeed possible. In the fog, conflicts and dialogue become increasingly ephemeral, while the boundaries between the characters and the world around them fade. The audience is invited into a universe of the collective unconscious—a place where there is neither “I” nor “you”, only an eternal fabric of consciousness existing beyond all personal boundaries. It is a place, or perhaps a state, where words lose their meaning and only silence remains: a connection between being and non-being. The only constant is “nothing”, which offers freedom and eternity.

Is it possible to return to your past? Can the past and the present collide without destroying one another? Seeking answers to these questions inspired A. Špilevojus, creator of the plays “Bagadelnia” and “Pakeliui”, to immerse himself in “Fog”, where seeing the world is much harder than feeling it.
