HAAPSALU – AI in Office Work

A practical AI workshop for office professionals. Participation is free, but places are limited.

Workshop description: This practical AI workshop for office workers introduces ways to use AI to draft emails and documents, summarise meeting notes, and organise information. Participants will practise giving clear instructions and handling work-related information safely. The workshop uses free AI tools.

Objective: Participants will practise using AI for office tasks and learn to use the results safely.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Give AI a task by specifying its goal, context, constraints, and desired format;
- Draft and improve an email, meeting summary, or short document with AI;
- Ask AI to help organise information and generate ideas, and check its claims against the original source;
- Recognise what information should not be entered into a public AI tool without approval;
- Choose one of their own work tasks where AI could save time and describe the next step for trying it.

The workshop is suitable for beginners and office workers with limited prior experience. No technical knowledge is required; basic computer skills are helpful. Participants who have already tried AI tools can also practise using them more systematically and safely.

Requirements for participation: No previous experience with AI is needed. Paid licences are not required—the practical exercises can also be done with free tools, subject to their features and usage limits. The trainer will introduce features unavailable with free accounts through examples and demonstrations.

Please bring a laptop and have an active personal Google account (Gmail) that you can use to sign in to the required AI platforms. We recommend checking before the workshop that you can sign in to your account.

The workshop will be led by Petri Hütt, a trainer and teacher with experience in digital technology and education. He has worked as an informatics teacher, educational technologist, and IT subject teacher and lecturer. His experience combines the practical application of technological solutions, learner guidance, and the development of digital skills.
