“Wipe My Ass” (English for “Wipe My Ass”) is a visual, performative object-theatre production in which toilets become characters in a political allegory, and their story speaks of responsibility, indifference and… the late Toilet. A toilet is a private space. People usually have a toilet at home that only they, their household members and guests can use. This means that people often develop a personal relationship with their own toilet. As is well known, studies show that people are much more likely to wait until they get home than to do their business at work. At the same time, people engage in public activity in the toilet. As many as 93 percent of people aged 18–29 use social media while in the toilet. How much of the political discourse taking place online begins on the toilet? While defecating and urinating, spending time in their private, enclosed toilets, citizens around the world debate human rights, the economy and religion. They comment on articles about politicians’ statements, corruption scandals and quarrels. They horrify one another with looming threats, are disgusted by parliamentarians, rejoice, take offence and feel afraid. They do all this while only the toilet can hear and sense them, as they wait for someone to wipe their ass. This is where the story of the production begins, too. One day, an unidentified person shamelessly shits in a family’s private Toilet. They do it so badly that the toilet dies… But the only remaining witness—the Little Toilet—will not give up easily. Having hired a shit medium with his last penny, he will try to find out who shat in the Toilet during the funeral. Could the asshole be a famous Lithuanian political figure? The premiere is scheduled for November 19. The production will be performed in English and Lithuanian.
