Jõgeva Linna Pensionäride Ühendus invites older residents of the municipality to an Arukate Akadeemia discussion circle on Wednesday, 25 November, from 12:00 to 14:00 at Jõgeva Kultuurikeskus. The topic is “Peace of Mind – The Wisdom of a Tibetan Monastery,” with psychologist Anneli Salk. We will hear about:
· Travel impressions from Ladakh, Little Tibet, and the teachings on peace of mind shared by monastery monks
· Mindfulness as interpreted by Tibetan monastery monks—what is it?
· The psychology of peace of mind—how to cultivate it in your life
· Practical exercises for peace of mind
Anneli Salk introduces herself as follows: “Working as a hospital psychologist, I soon realised that talking with clients and doing practical psychology exercises alone was not enough to recover from mentally difficult life events and accidents. So I turned my attention east, towards the Tibetan monasteries, and set off on a journey to Ladakh, also known as Little Tibet. At Lamayuru Monastery, the monks generously shared spiritual teachings and practical exercises. I have therefore travelled to Ladakh several times to further my professional development. Western psychology offers good knowledge, but the spiritual practices of Tibetan monasteries are more than 1,000 years old, and there is much of value to learn from them. This allows me to combine psychological knowledge with Tibetan monastery practices for peace of mind in my work. I have now worked as a hospital psychologist for over 25 years, and my studies at Lamayuru Monastery have been of great benefit. I would like to share this knowledge and experience with you at the peace-of-mind seminar.”
Peace of mind begins with a state of mind, and everyone can cultivate it in their life! Everyone interested is welcome to come and listen. The contribution is €3 for attendees who are not part of the Jõgeva Arukate Akadeemia audience.
