🥂 Cava Marevia — 6 sparkling wines, 6 different characters! 🇪🇸 Friends! On 27 November, I invite you to a comparative tasting of Spanish Cava from the Marevia winery. Did you know that genuine Cava is produced outside Catalonia too? This evening, we’ll head to Requena in the Valencia region, where wonderful sparkling wines are made in high-altitude vineyards. Cavas Marevia is a winery with an interesting history. Since 2019, it has belonged to the Hevia Ferrer family, whose connection to the production of Spanish sparkling wines spans more than a century. Today, Marevia specialises in organic Cava, with a particular focus on Chardonnay and Macabeo, and also uses Pinot Noir for its finest wines.

Why a comparative tasting? Because wines reveal themselves quite differently when tasted side by side! We’ll compare young Cava with aged Reserva, taste Chardonnay on its own and blended with Pinot Noir, discover rosé Cava, and finish the evening with Semi Seco. We’ll talk about the traditional method of sparkling wine production, ageing on the lees, the influence of grape varieties, and, of course, why Cava can be a wonderful alternative to much more expensive sparkling wines!
