Seventeen Steps Toward Myself

A musical youth theatre production. Without artificial intelligence, we could no longer imagine modern life. After extensive testing and thorough research, a solution has finally been found for young people’s mental health concerns as well. Eighteen young people arrive at a retreat, where they are met by ELO, the artificial intelligence of a youth psychological counselling centre—an AI that promises to help them find inner peace. Their phones are taken away, their names are replaced with numbers, and games, questions, and tasks begin, intended to help them understand themselves and others better. The pressure to be perfect. The fear of failure. Control and anger. Loneliness. A friendship that has caused pain. Parents’ expectations. Love that cannot be put into words. And secrets that have been carried for too long. There are many problems, and solutions are still nowhere in sight. “Seventeen Steps Toward Myself” is a sharp, honest, and at times painfully funny social drama about young people who have been unwillingly sent to deal with their problems.
