Seventeen Steps to Myself

Without artificial intelligence, we could no longer imagine modern life. After lengthy experimentation and thorough research, a solution has finally been found for young people’s mental health concerns as well. Eighteen young people arrive at a retreat, where they are met by ELO, the artificial intelligence of a youth psychological counselling centre—an AI that promises to help them find inner peace. Their phones are taken away, their names are replaced with numbers, and games, questions and tasks begin—ones intended to help them understand themselves and others better.

The pressure to be perfect. The fear of failure. Control and anger. Loneliness. A friendship that has caused pain. Parents’ expectations. Love that cannot be put into words. And secrets carried for far too long. There are many worries, while solutions are still nowhere in sight.

“Seventeen Steps to Myself” is a sharp, honest and at times painfully funny social drama about young people who have been sent, against their will, to deal with their problems. The door has been locked, but can anyone get out?
