A unique tour programme created by the Estonian Centre of Architecture gives architecture enthusiasts the opportunity to look behind the doors of Tallinn’s Linnahall, which are usually closed to the public. Linnahall is one of several structures built in Tallinn to host the sailing regatta as part of the XXII Olympic Games, hosted by Moscow in 1980. The project was prepared by Raine Karp, Riina Altmäe and Ülo Sirp in 1976. It is one of the most outstanding examples of Soviet Estonian architecture in Tallinn. Linnahall also attracted considerable attention in 2020, when it was one of the most interesting filming locations for Christopher Nolan’s film TENET in Tallinn. In Nolan’s film, the building played the role of the Kyiv Opera House. The building captivated the filmmakers above all with its monumental atmosphere. What is the history of Linnahall? What does the inside of the building that served as a filming location for Nolan’s film look like? These and many other interesting facts can be heard during this unique tour. The tour lasts 90 minutes and is conducted in Estonian, Russian and English. Tours organised by the Estonian Centre of Architecture are conducted by Estonia’s best professional guides, united by an interest in architecture and its history. The Architecture Centre also organises customised tours in six languages to various interesting places throughout Estonia. If this interests you, send an enquiry to info@archtours.ee.
