VIA Klyukva presents a one-of-a-kind project! “Cranberry Morse” is a series of musical lecture-parties: a refreshing mix of interesting facts from the world of music, jokes, quizzes, songs and dancing. We will gather with you in a cozy and spacious bar where you can:
• Learn lots of interesting things about a significant musician, genre, sound or event—in a fun way, with jokes, behind-the-scenes details and live demonstrations
• Take part in a themed quiz
• Sing karaoke and dance to songs related to the topic
• Meet great people who are interested in what goes on behind the scenes in music and who love to have fun
• Enjoy yourselves and reminisce
The topic of the Morse on October 31 (yes, right on Halloween) is American 2000s Nu Metal: Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Evanescence, System of a Down, Korn, Papa Roach, Slipknot, Crazy Town and others. Together with you, we will find out how the genre was born and why it died so quickly, as well as why teenagers in the 2000s liked songs about suffering and protest set to a mix of rap and heavily distorted guitars.
How did Nu Metal originate? Why did millions of people fall in love with it so quickly? Which bands adapted to the trend and gained popularity? Why does Mike Shinoda deny Linkin Park’s association with the genre, while Chester Bennington was never embarrassed by it? What is distinctive about Nu Metal songs? And finally, why was this genre born so rapidly, burned brightly and disappeared into oblivion so quickly?
We conducted musical calculations and found answers to these questions, as well as uncovering the formula behind the success of this remarkable rock genre.
After the main part of the evening—an interactive stand-up lecture—we will move on to the entertainment portion of the party: we will hold a quiz about 2000s rock hits and sing and dance to the biggest hits (get your Linkin Park, Korn, Papa Roach and other songs ready). You can simply listen, you can dance, or you can perform your favorite songs yourself.
The event will take place throughout the evening on October 31 (Saturday), starting at 18:30, at the cozy and spacious RM Lounge (Parda 8). Get ready for a powerful dose of nostalgia set to the hits that were on every cassette player during our childhood and adolescence—and get ready to scream along (“I tried so haaaaard and got so faaaaar, but in the end, it doesn't even maaaatteeer”).
