Kids’ Electronics Teardown Saturday

Come dismantle electronics with us! When electrical devices are broken or simply outdated, that does not actually mean they need to be thrown away entirely. Even if the device itself can no longer be repaired, many of the parts inside it can be reused. For example, an old computer’s CD drive contains a small motor that can be connected to a battery and used to build a toy car. What makes dismantling electronics exciting is that there are an enormous number of strange components inside machines. For example, an ordinary home printer may contain 300–500 different large and small parts; an office printer may contain as many as 1,000! There are tiny screws, pieces of plastic, wires... and every part has its own specific purpose. Taking machines apart using different tools is part of the everyday work of electronics repairers. Now beginners can take part too! During the workshop, children will learn how to use tools, how to open devices safely, and how to sort different materials. We will talk about reuse and new uses for removed components. We will learn how to take electronic devices apart so that the parts we are interested in remain intact. This is a useful skill for a future repairer. Together, we can sort the gadgets generated during the teardown day that are needed by Paranduskelder, so they can be used conveniently in future repair projects. You may also take some of the more interesting pieces home ;) The workshop is intended for children aged 6–99. We ask children up to 9 years old to bring a parent along. The event will last until all the machines have been dismantled or until the last dismantler still has the energy to continue. After the event, we will return the children completely in one piece; the machines will not be so lucky! Ticket: 15 € Would you like to participate, but the date/time does not suit you? Feel free to contact us: info@paranda.ee NB! If you notify us of your cancellation 24 hours before the event, the full amount will be refunded. If there are less than 24 hours until the event, the ticket purchase cost will not be refunded.
