Imagine a warm August evening. The afternoon heat has subsided into a pleasant, gently breezy summer embrace. On stage, the band tightens its strings, and the hopeful rumble of a drum can be heard. And now! Seven actors—or were they pigs?—race onto the stage and make the meadows of Ülenurme resound with wild energy. That is how it could be, because next summer, too, the home of Must Kast will be the Estonian Agricultural Museum, or MUHK. The summer production “RUIK!” introduces pigs from every possible angle through études, music, song and dance in the museum’s circular arena. Yes, pigs—who in turn oppress and repress, frolic and rage, squander and mock. Krõõt calls the pigs from the rye with a “bright voice”; the piglets build real estate of varying quality and a shared mill on an animal-run farm; the piggies travel by train to Porila, go to parties to sell meat, gorge and gobble and make a mess; they grunt and squeal when it is time to start making a real pig racket; and the impossible becomes possible when pigs fly. This is a two-act barnyard cabaret—a cheerful, musical, dance-filled and furious examination of power and its abuse. The party will be pig-tastic and loud, and soup will also be available during the interval. Will there be a moral? No! Will there be rolling around in the mud? Oh yes! Can you laugh and sing along? Absolutely! Director: JAANIKA TAMMARU; dramaturg: ELIISABET RAJU; costume designer: KARL JOONAS ALAMAA; lighting designers: SANDER PÕLLU (VAT Teater) and VILLU LIIVLA; producer: MERILYN ELGE; marketing and tickets: RAUL MARKUS VAIKSOO; on stage: KAIJA M KÜLM, MARIANN TAMMARU, INGRID ISOTAMM, MAARJA TAMMEMÄGI, GRETE KONKSI, ALISSIJA-ELISABET JEVTJUKOVA, RAUNO POLMAN; and the band: JOOSEP SOOTLA, EMIL JOONATAN SEENE, KRISTO PLOVITS. Premiere on 15 August 2026 at MUHK / the Estonian Agricultural Museum’s circular arena (Ülenurme, Tartu County). Ticket prices: until 31 December, regular ticket €35, discounted ticket €30.
