Summer Production “Trahteritüdrukud”

The summer production is based on the well-known play “Factory Girls” by Irish playwright Frank McGuinness. The story takes place in America at the beginning of the last century, where the women working in a factory—the factory girls—stand up to the factory’s new owners because of their steadily worsening working conditions. As the conflict gathers momentum, human vices and hidden contradictions are amplified, but so are perseverance, courage, honesty and a strong sense of solidarity. Each character has personal joys, worries, dilemmas and traumas ... who doesn’t? And although standing up for their rights ultimately requires the adoption of rather drastic measures, the characters become remarkably hardened in the process. As they say, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger ...
