Summer Production "The Tavern Girls"

The summer production is based on the well-known play "Factory Girls" by Irish playwright Frank McGuinness. The story takes place in America at the beginning of the last century, where the women working in a tavern—the tavern girls—stand up to the tavern’s new owners because of their steadily worsening working conditions. As the conflict gathers force, human flaws and hidden tensions are amplified, but so too are determination, courage, honesty and a strong sense of solidarity. Each character has personal joys, worries, dilemmas and traumas ... who doesn’t? And although standing up for their rights ultimately requires the adoption of rather drastic measures, the characters are impressively strengthened in the process. After all, what does not kill you makes you stronger ... Author: Frank McGuinness
