We hover on the boundary between inner and outer perception. Our aim is to ensnare attention: by manipulating, entertaining and being visible. “a t t e n t i o n n e t w o r k” embraces you to the point of exhaustion and overwhelms you with fragmented images from memory. Experiencing it is reminiscent of surfing in slow motion through a distorted web. Familiar feelings and sounds float in the air, but they have been scattered chaotically, while more and more information pours in from every direction. You are guided through these different moods and visuals. It makes you uneasy. The imagined and the real pass by in parallel, increasingly confusing you. You find yourself in an absurd space created by the contradictory interplay of theatricality, rawness, suddenness, intensity, mystery, softness and intimacy. The performance is dreamlike, yet a perceptible trace of how our focus is directed in the present day. It is a place that helps us confront the external flood of information, offering a moment for analysis so that we can notice what we are actually looking at right now.

Júlia Vavra is a Budapest-based freelance contemporary dancer, performer and choreographer. She studied choreography at the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy and at Amsterdam’s SNDO (School for New Dance Development). She treats bodies as mysterious, constantly evolving carriers of information. She works with contradictions and taboos. Through the creation of characters, reinterpreted symbols, distorted codes, irony and humour, she seeks to reflect on our hidden rules, ethics, behaviour and patterns. “t ä h e l e p a n u v õ r k ” ( s a l i e n c e n e t w o r k) is a continuation of her latest work, “d e f a u l t m o d e n e t w o r k”, which focused on the state of dreaming. In her previous work, “Artists like me”, she examined the local and global contexts and mechanisms of her profession through brutally honest satire.
