The dance club is essentially a village party relocated to the city, where instead of a village community, people who enjoy folk dance and folk music come together. Everyone is welcome, young or old, bold or shy. We mainly dance Estonian dances, always to the accompaniment of a musician—in other words, live music. Some dances from neighbouring countries and farther afield also find their way into the mix. Dances are rarely taught during the party, so we recommend keeping an eye on those who dance well and learning from them. Tallinn Dance Club has now been operating as a folk music and folk dance club for 34 years. In its early years, it operated at Vanalinna Muusikamaja and Kloostri Ait; for several years now, the gatherings have taken place in the medieval refectory of Hopneri Maja. We meet twice a month on Wednesdays (NB! This season also once on a Monday and once on a Friday) to enjoy dancing. The organisers of the dance club are Leanne Barbo, Jaan Sarv and Monika Väliste. Please bring a change of shoes.
