“Värvuke” at Kullamaa Cultural Centre

Leonard Melfi’s “VÄRVUKE” (“Birdbath”) is a stage adaptation of the renowned playwright Leonard Melfi’s best-known play. The play premiered in New York’s East Village in 1965 and has been produced more than 4,000 times worldwide. A cold February in New York, where two strangers—a lonely waitress and a failed poet—meet and form an unexpected emotional connection over the course of a night. The woman feels that she is the only unhappy creature in the world. The man believes that his luck as a poet and writer has turned its back on him forever. The duet of two simple souls shows the audience that sometimes very little is needed for people in this often-isolated world to find one another through just a glance or a touch.
