The workshop invites you behind the scenes of the performance “Space That Holds – Distance That Touches”! What happens when we stop striving for perfection in order to do everything “right”? Through playful movement exercises, improvisation, partner work and group work, we will explore together with choreographer Rūta Ronja Pakalne connection, attention, trust, our impact on one another, awkwardness and failure as tools for creating movement. We will play with the space between bodies and with how we influence, imitate, oppose and change one another. Over the course of two hours, we will immerse ourselves in Rūta’s choreographic process and in ways of working with movement research, observation, improvisation and composition, turning different movement tasks and unexpected moments into material. The workshop focuses on exploring choreography from an unusual angle, where there are no right or wrong answers. There will be bodies, curiosity and a small willingness to lose control. Come move, experiment and see together what starts to happen! Duration: 2 hours. Note: bring comfortable clothes for movement (preferably long trousers and a long-sleeved top). Everyone is welcome; no previous dance experience is required.
