Peaasi.ee/Kinoteater: Ordinary Estonian Men on Stage with the Stand-Up Show “We Don’t Talk About Mental Health”

Twelve perfectly ordinary Estonian men take the stage—men whom mental health does not personally affect. But they all know one guy who knows one guy who knows… In autumn 2025, Peaasi.ee and Kinoteater invited men to apply for a joke-writing course, and by the end of the year, twenty selected participants had successfully completed it. Twelve of them will appear before an audience for the first time to share stories, experiences and incidents from their lives. Peaasi.ee and Kinoteater are interested in people’s well-being. This is their second collaboration based on stories. While, as part of Tartu 2024, the project “Mental Health Is Like a Carrot” gave a voice to the people of Southern Estonia—most of whom were women—the focus is now on the permanent crisis group: men.
