Paavli.Live: Gong (UK)

One of the most distinctive psychedelic and experimental rock collectives – Gong, on 15 November at Paavli Kultuurivabrik. GONG (UK) gongband.com planetgong.co.uk kscopemusic.com/artists/gong linktr.ee/gongband

The Gong universe began in 1969, when Daevid Allen was inspired by a profound psychedelic vision. As a founding member of Soft Machine, Allen wove his spiritual and metaphysical inclinations into the developing collective, which was more a mythology than a band in the conventional sense.

The current lineup, assembled by Daevid before his final Gong album, “I See You”, follows his wish that Gong would not disappear with him, urging the band to “carry it forward to new unknown heights and depths, far beyond anything I could ever imagine myself”. This collective is the most stable in Gong’s illustrious history, having written, recorded and toured together for eleven years since Allen’s departure.

As a dynamic, powerful and explosive live band, their music draws inspiration from the original Gong credo, while remaining committed to taking the songwriting, performances and message into new dimensions, without giving in to nostalgia. Gong in 2026 continues the ethics, attitude and lifestyle that have always been woven into the band’s essence.
