The drama group "Virmaline" from a small Estonian municipality decides to stage a musical dedicated to the Estonian War of Independence. Unfortunately, just as many men were unwilling to go to war back then, it is now nearly impossible to lure them into taking part in the play. So once again, the women are left to take the reins.
Against the backdrop of staging the musical, the painful issues of rural life today also unfold layer by layer: the everyday problem of deteriorating institutions and the lack of opportunities to repair them, the emptying out of rural areas, passive family relationships, fondness for alcohol, intolerance towards differences, and the search for a sense of belonging and identity.
