The Obsessed in Tallinn! In November, a powerful evening full of heavy doom awaits you! The Obsessed was formed in the late 1970s in Potomac, Maryland, by legendary guitarist Scott “Wino” Weinrich (Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan). They were influenced by artists such as Black Sabbath, Frank Zappa, The Dictators and The Stooges. After lineup changes in the band’s early days and the release of the “Sodden Jackal” EP in 1983, the band broke up in the late ’80s when Wino joined Saint Vitus. An album recorded earlier was later released, leading to the band’s reunion and the 1994 release of the album “The Church Within”, after which the band broke up again despite receiving good reviews. The Obsessed reunited in 2011 for a concert at Roadburn Festival, followed by performances at Hellfest Open Air and Maryland Deathfest. In 2016, they resumed activities in full force and signed with Relapse Records, which also brought a new lineup that eventually grew back to four members. In 2017, “Sacred” was released, their first album in twenty years. The stable lineup later consisted of Wino, Brian Costantino, Chris Angleberger and Jason Taylor, leading to the 2024 album “Gilded Sorrow”, released through Ripple Music and described by Wino as one of the heaviest and most cohesive works of his career.
