Evenings with Anu: Women’s Day Gala “Today Belongs to Women”

EVENINGS WITH ANU – “TODAY BELONGS TO WOMEN”

This spring, Evenings with Anu celebrates Women’s Day with three special gala evenings in Tallinn, Tartu and Pärnu. These are warm and heartfelt evenings filled with songs, stories, love and encounters, where alongside music, people and stories that touch, inspire and encourage reflection will also have a voice.

Anu Välba invites beloved Estonian artists from different generations onto the stage: Tanel Padar, Maarja-Liis Ilus, Kaire Vilgats, Heidy Tamme, Karl Madis and Priit Võigemast. Well-known and meaningful songs will be performed, but as is characteristic of the Evenings with Anu format, the people behind these songs will also be revealed. Different generations and very different life experiences will meet on stage.

Heidy Tamme looks back on decades in Estonian music and talks about being a woman and an artist through different eras. Maarja-Liis Ilus talks about growing from a girl into a woman in front of the eyes of all Estonia, and how life’s roles and values change over time. Kaire Vilgats shares her story of self-worth, self-confidence and the courage to be yourself.

Men will also have their say. Tanel Padar, Priit Võigemast and Karl Madis share their perspectives on love and relationships, life-changing moments, lessons learned, and the women who have shaped them – honestly, warmly and with a healthy dose of humour.

The musicians will be accompanied by a band led by Tomi Rahula.

At each gala evening, Anu will also meet an inspiring female guest on stage from outside the world of music, bringing another personal story and perspective to the evening.

Three special Women’s Day galas:
17 March – Vanemuise Kontserdimaja at 19:00
19 March – Pärnu Kontserdimaja at 19:00
21 March – Alexela Kontserdimaja at 17:00

At the 19 March concert, Birgit Sarrap will perform instead of Kaire Vilgats. She will talk about the different roles of being a woman – about love, family and motherhood, and finding a balance between living for oneself and for others.
