“You’re pretending to argue; you’ve always done that. You’ve already had this argument fifty times. Maybe we don’t have to fall out at every dinner?”

Five friends and relatives get together for an evening of casual conversation and a pleasant atmosphere. Until the name of an as-yet-unborn child becomes the problem that directs the entire evening and all the conversations. But perhaps it is not only about the child’s name, shared secrets or unspoken thoughts?

In the sharp French comedy “The Name,” precise and intelligent humour meets tense family relationships. The dialogue of an evening that began in a relaxed mood takes an unexpected turn in an instant.

The authors of the award-winning play are renowned French screenwriters and film directors Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellère, under whose direction the film of the same name premiered in France in 2012.
