British conductor, organist and pianist Wayne Marshall returns to conduct the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra following sold-out concerts in December 2019. Marshall is a masterful and versatile conductor and piano and organ soloist. From 2014 to 2020, Marshall served as chief conductor of the WDR Funkhausorchester, and from 2007 to 2013 he was principal guest conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi. Marshall is acclaimed as an interpreter of Gershwin, Bernstein and other 20th-century American composers.

Among the Bernstein works he has conducted are “Candide” (Berlin State Opera, Lyon Opera), “Mass” (Orchestre de Paris) and “White House Cantata” (Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra). Marshall’s repertoire also includes John Harbison’s opera “The Great Gatsby” (Semperoper), Jake Heggie’s opera “Dead Man Walking” (Opéra de Montréal), and numerous performances of George Gershwin’s opera “Porgy and Bess”, including at the Opéra-Comique, Washington National Opera, Dallas Opera and Vienna State Opera.
