Welcome to an exhibition about impoverished textile craftworkers and their world of patterns. In the exhibition *Roses in November*, you will meet five craftworkers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Their stories tell of simple living conditions and hardship, but also of advanced craftsmanship and great creativity. Tradition meets the present in newly created wool textiles inspired by the patterns and colours of these historical craftworkers. Welcome in!
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, many people in our country were very poor. One way to make a living was to craft various household items that could be sold for a small income or exchanged for something else they needed. In this exhibition, you will get to know five craftworkers, their textile creations and their rich, often colourful world of patterns. They are Gran-Anna, who crocheted; Lunn-Anders and Blinda-Anna, who knitted; Maria i Stenbacken, who sewed patchwork quilts; and, last but not least, Vävar-Lars, who was known for his linen damask. You will also see newly created wool textiles by Lena Josefsson, inspired by the patterns and colours of the impoverished craftworkers.
