When Tero became a single father fifteen years ago, he had no idea how to look after a child. He did the only thing he knew: taught his son Henri to shoot a shotgun, work on cars and fend for himself. His parenting methods are unconventional, to say the least, but beneath his tough exterior lies a deep and unconditional love. The Finest of Finland is a warm, gently humorous portrayal of family ties, friendship and love in the Finnish countryside. With dry humour, a tender eye and a tone that brings Aki Kaurismäki’s films to mind, it tells a story of life’s inevitable changes, and how our biggest mistakes sometimes lead us in the right direction.
