“A Dream of Writing” — literary event. In response to European Authors Day’s invitation to meet in person, read together, talk, and share ideas and emotions, Bites Library invites everyone interested to meet writer, teacher, book reviewer, and professional guide Ruta Zimnoha on 11 November at 16:00. Ruta Zimnoha describes herself as a woman from Kurzeme with Belarusian genes. After graduating from the State Kandava Agricultural Technical School, she lived and worked in the Netherlands for a time, but since 1999 has called herself a Rigan. She studied at the University of Latvia, works at a school and as a guide, and in her free time reads, writes book reviews, and writes books herself, for both children and adults. Special attention is given to our region’s informative book “A Summer Adventure in Penkule,” created in collaboration with the association “Penkule Opens Its Doors.” It is full of fascinating stories about historic sites in the neighbouring parish, notable people, and the colourful life of a city teenager in a small rural village. The meeting promises to be truly engaging: the writer has plenty of experience to draw on, from searching for her own path in life and the surprises of working as a guide, to sharing the emotions and reflections she has gained from reading books, working with teenagers at school, and fulfilling her dream of becoming a writer—a dream that began in an unusual way and is partly connected with the renowned Latvian children’s book illustrator and writer Margarita Stāraste. You are warmly invited to enjoy Ruta Zimnoha’s lively stories about life and literature, read excerpts from books together, and spend time in a warm atmosphere at Bites Library.
