In tribute to composer Mārtiņš Brauns on the 75th anniversary of his birth, Latvijas Jaunatnes teātris presents audiences with the composer’s most ambitious rock opera for children and families, “Mowgli,” in autumn 2026. “Mowgli” is the most ambitious musical production for children and young people created in recent years. It is a new production of the show first staged at Jaunatnes teātris in 1982. The new production premiered in October 2021 and became the last event Mārtiņš Brauns took part in before his passing. Cast: Igors Siliņš, Kārlis Tols, Rūdolfs Juris Trēziņš, Sanita Misika, Aija Dzērve, Juris Vizbulis, Edgars Lipors, Māris Skrodis, Jānis Skanis, Jēkabs Reinis, Juris Millers, Anatolijs Kreipāns, Elīna Bojarkina, Rihards Zelezņevs and Jānis Kirmuška. The folk dance ensemble “Dzintariņš” also appears in the production. Director: Jānis Mūrnieks; choreographer: Sanita Misika; vocal coach: Ieva Sutugova; costume designer and set designer: Linda Līva Oše; arranger: Kristaps Krievkalns; producer: Juris Millers. The jury of the Latvijas Pasākumu forums Excellence Awards named “Mowgli” the outstanding cultural event of 2021, while the company “Biļešu paradīze” presented its creators with a special award for the most-viewed cultural event online.
