Gatis Krūmiņš, “The Significance of November 11 in Strengthening Latvian National Self-Awareness.” Why is November 11 so significant in Latvia’s history? How have the events of the Latvian War of Independence shaped our people’s self-awareness, and why does remembering these events matter today? The guest lecturer, Gatis Krūmiņš, is a Doctor of History, senior researcher and former rector of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, co-author of several books on Latvian history, and the historian for the Latvian Television programme “Tas notika šeit.” We invite you to reflect together on Lāčplēsis Day not only as a commemoration of a historical event, but also as an important part of our national identity and sense of belonging.
