Exhibition: Kristiina Nickel – Love in Nature

Paintings by Kristiina Nickel, an artist from Keuruu, are on display in the Lobby Gallery at Palvelukeskus Lehtiniemi. The exhibition features fifteen works, most of them made with acrylic paints, along with a few watercolours. Through her colourful works, Nickel wants to bring joy, warmth and a sunny mood to the coolness of autumn. Her works depict love in nature, which, she says, can be seen in many ways: in flowers with their enchanting scents and shades, or in the evening sun reflected on the water. It is there in the patter of rain lulling a person into gentle sleep, in the meeting and first glance of a pair of foxes, or in a mother bear caring for her cubs. The exhibition’s main work is titled “Siiville” (“On Wings”). It was created as she watched the swans migrate last autumn. She saw them gather, prepare to leave and wait for favourable winds. Then the right day came, and they took to the skies, proud and strong. In their wake, a quiet bay on the lake remained.
