There are enthusiastic film buffs among our staff. The person who selected the film will give a brief introduction before the screening. There will also be an opportunity to discuss the film afterwards. Screenings are on Thursdays, 8 October, 12 November and 10 December at 17:30. Free admission!
8 October: Turbo Kid (2015, 1 h 35 min, ages 16+, Canada)
It is 1997. The world is in a post-apocalyptic era, and the Earth is a dry, barren wasteland. The desert is ruled by the sadistic leader Zeus. Kid is the young hero of the story, riding his BMX through the desert and scavenging for scraps to trade for life-sustaining water.
12 November: Rams (2015, 1 h 33 min, ages 12+, Iceland)
Sheep farmers and brothers Gummi and Kiddi have not said a word to each other in 40 years, despite living next door to one another and competing each year to raise the finest breeding ram.
10 December: Primer (2004, 1 h 17 min, ages 16+, United States)
Engineers Abe and Aaron do boring work at a large company, and build their own inventions in their free time. They unexpectedly discover that one of their machines can manipulate time, and the friends try to figure out how best to make use of their revolutionary discovery.
And the selected films are also available to watch on the Cineast film service. There is no charge; just log in with your library card and PIN. You can watch up to three films per month.
