Exhibition: Kristiina Nickel – Love in Nature

Paintings by Kristiina Nickel, an artist from Keuruu, are on display in the lobby gallery of Lehtiniemi Service Centre. The exhibition features fifteen works, most of them made with acrylic paints, along with a few watercolours. Through her colourful paintings, Nickel wants to bring joy, warmth and a sunny mood to the chill of autumn. Her works depict love in nature, which, she says, can be seen in many ways: in flowers with their enchanting scents and hues, or in the evening sun reflected on the water; in the patter of rain lulling someone into a gentle sleep; in a fox couple meeting and exchanging their first glance; or in a mother bear caring for her cubs. The main work in the exhibition is titled “On Wings”. It came about as she watched the swans migrate last autumn. She saw them gather, prepare to leave and wait for suitable winds. Then the right day arrived, and they took to the skies, proud and strong. In their wake, a quiet lakeside cove remained.
