Lecture: The Transformation of Jämsänkoski Town Centre after World War II

Part of the Jämsänjokilaakso Savings Bank Foundation lecture series, this lecture is given by local heritage councillor Hannu Ahlstedt. Tehdaskylä took on a new look: shops and banks renovated their premises, and apartment blocks began to rise. A new main road was built through the town centre. “The town centre washed its face,” as this period of development was described. After the war, there was widespread optimism and strong faith in the future. This positive outlook was reflected in many ways. Admission to all lectures is free. They are held in the multipurpose space at Jämsä Main Library. Each lecture can accommodate about 50 people. The organiser is the Savings Bank Foundation.
