Reading Dog Lily at Palokka Library

You can read to reading dog Lily every other Tuesday evening at Huvissa. Reading to a dog is part of encouraging people to read. Reading sessions are intended primarily for children learning to read and others who have difficulty reading. You may choose the book yourself. Each reading session lasts 15 minutes. The reading dog’s role is to listen to the reader and be present. The dog does not judge or point out mistakes, slowness, or hesitation. The reading dogs are Finnish Kennel Club reading dogs, all tested for suitability for the role. Book a reading session in advance by emailing kirjasto.palokka@jyvaskyla.fi or calling 014 569 4151. Sessions are allocated in order of registration. Please book by 6 p.m. on the previous day at the latest.
