Exhibition: Kristiina Nickel – Love in Nature

Paintings by Kristiina Nickel, an artist from Keuruu, are on display in the Lobby Gallery at Lehtiniemi Service Centre. The exhibition features fifteen works, most of them made with acrylic paints, along with a few watercolours. Through her colourful works, Nickel hopes to bring joy, warmth and a sunny mood to the cool autumn weather. Her works depict love in nature, which, she says, can be seen in many forms: flowers with their enchanting scents and hues, or the evening sun reflected on the water; the patter of rain lulling a person into gentle sleep; a fox couple meeting for the first time; or a mother bear caring for her cubs. The exhibition’s main work is titled “On Wings”. It came about as Nickel watched the swans migrate last autumn. She saw them gather, prepare to leave and wait for favourable winds. Then the right day came, and they rose into the air, proud and strong. In their wake, a quiet inlet of the lake remained.
