Author event with Juha Hurme and Anni Polva

Juha Hurme’s overview of Anni Polva’s life and works is a great tribute to “Finland’s most battered woman” and “the queen of bestsellers.” The event is a lively, one-hour combination of lecture, comedy and theatre, based on Hurme’s book about Polva, *Suomen nuijituin nainen* (2025, Teos). Above all, Hurme’s show draws on the remarkable turns in the life of the tenacious and persistent Polva, and the immense paradox of her literary career: during her lifetime, Anni Polva was Finland’s most widely read and most heavily criticized author. After the performance, there will be time for audience questions and discussion. The lecture will be held in the hospital auditorium at Sairaalantie 11.
