Are You with Us? — Children’s Musical

Everyday life at a school in Jyväskylä takes an unexpected turn when new pupils arrive in the classroom. Friendships form, but there are also painful situations and bullying. Can reconciliation be found? What can begin to grow if we dare to ask, listen and meet one another? *Are You with Us?* is a new, emotionally rich and engaging musical aimed especially at primary-school-aged children and their families. Dozens of children and adults appear on stage as actors, dancers, soloists, choir members and live-band musicians. The musical explores friendship, building reconciliation, internationalism, prayer and hope. Commissioned and now receiving its premiere, the musical was written by Anna-Mari Kaskinen and composed by Henna-Maria Harju. Directed by Mika Lahtinen; choreography by Piia-Maria Aho; choir direction by Sanna Saarenpää; band direction by Janette Rantanen. The performance lasts about two hours, including an intermission. The musical is produced by Jyväskylän seurakunta, with Jyväskylän Helluntaiseurakunta and Kansan Raamattuseura as partners. We recommend arriving by public transport. Parking is available in the Hipposhalli car park in spaces requiring a parking disc. The premises are accessible, including the toilet. The auditorium’s hearing-loop areas are in the middle of the main floor and at the back of the auditorium. A limited number of sensory-friendly seats are available for purchase.
