VL Myrsky was a fighter aircraft designed and manufactured by the State Aircraft Factory during the Continuation War. It was the only Finnish-designed fighter to enter serial production. After the war, all 51 Myrsky aircraft were scrapped. In the early 1970s, the tubular frames of three Myrskys were discovered at a scrapyard and saved. The original engineering drawings, long believed to have been lost, were found in a skip in 1990. The joint project of the Finnish Air Force Museum, Finnish Aviation Museum and the Aviation Museum Society Finland to restore the Myrsky began in 2013. Now, the Myrsky is finally nearing completion. The aircraft conservators of the Finnish Air Force Museum will present the remarkable story of the 13-year restoration project that brought the VL Myrsky back to life, sharing the challenges and milestones of this extraordinary undertaking. Duration approx. 30 min. Only in Finnish. PLEASE NOTE! This event is part of the MuseoFest programme. Admission is only with a MuseoFest festival wristband.
