The Solo Series 2026

The Solo Series is an international contemporary dance solo performance platform created and curated by dance multi-athlete Samuli Emery. The carefully selected artists and their unique solo performances tour the most renowned contemporary dance stages in Kuopio, Jyväskylä and Tampere. The 2026 performance lineup consists of a concentrated atmosphere of three solos with different tones. During the shared evening, international guest performances will be seen in their Finnish premieres, as well as one new solo performance created specifically for the Solo Series tour. After each performance evening, there is an English-language artist meet-and-greet, where the visiting artists and their works can be explored in more depth. The key objectives of the Solo Series platform are to bring high-quality dance art to various locations across Finland, enable international performance visits and encounters, and create a lightweight and sustainable touring operation in Finland. The Solo Series performances have been organized over ten times since 2020 with various lineups. Through the Solo Series platform, numerous dance artists from Japan, Brazil, Greece and Poland have been brought to different cities in Finland. The Solo Series' partners and co-producers are the Regional Dance Center of Eastern Finland, the Central Finland Dance Center, and Tanssiteatteri MD. Samuli Emery is responsible for the curation and production.
