Henna Huovila, who will be appearing at Palokka Cultural Days, is a Jyväskylä-based author and history teacher. Huovila will talk about her historical novel *Elämänpuu*, published last spring and set in Jyväskylä in the 1860s, as well as the writing process. *Elämänpuu* (Docendo) is the second book in the Rajapirtti series, set in 19th-century Jyväskylä, and a standalone sequel to Huovila’s debut novel *Sielulintu* (Docendo, 2024). *Elämänpuu* tells of an independent woman, forgiveness, and how even the passing years cannot always extinguish deep feelings. Huovila’s books bring together community life, secrets and folk beliefs—with love, too. They reflect Huovila’s knowledge of Jyväskylä’s history and of life and folk beliefs in the 19th century. Welcome to listen and ask the author questions. Free admission.
