Trombonist and singer Juha “Jay” Kortehisto puts on a captivating show as guest vocalist with Jazz Jkl Collective, performing a varied, rootsy selection of rhythm and blues, evergreen cover songs, his own swinging, Finnish soul-inspired songs, and selected gems from the jazz standards repertoire! Jay Kortehisto is a singer and trombonist known for his extensive work in Finnish jazz and other forms of rhythm music. His approximately 35-year career includes more than 200 recordings on other artists’ albums, house-band work on numerous TV programmes, and performances on both Finnish and international stages with, among others, Ricky-Tick Big Band, Dallapé, Jean S, Popeda, and his own Screaming Jay & The Bones. Kortehisto’s debut album, released in 2018, brought Finnish-language singing and jazz together in a fresh way. It showcases a charismatic artist equally at home with swinging jazz and the hues of blues and soul.
