As part of the project “Implementation of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Activities in Bauska Municipality,” a free lecture for new parents on the postpartum period, newborn care, handling and breastfeeding will take place on 20 November at 16:00 in the hall on the 2nd floor of the Bauska Municipality Council building, Uzvaras iela 1, Bauska. The postpartum period is a time when parents adjust to a new daily routine and learn the skills needed to care for their baby. During this stage, it is important to pay attention both to the newborn’s needs and to the mother’s physical and emotional wellbeing. The lecture will provide useful knowledge and practical recommendations to help parents feel safer and more confident when caring for their baby. The lecture will be led by midwife Ilze Pūķe.

At the lecture, you will learn:
- What physical and emotional changes a woman experiences during the postpartum period and how to care for her wellbeing;
- How to start and successfully continue breastfeeding;
- How to handle a newborn correctly and safely, learning the basic principles of handling;
- How to provide safe everyday care for a baby;
- How to build confidence in your abilities and maintain emotional balance in this new stage of life.

During the lecture, there will be an opportunity to get practical advice and ask the specialist any questions you may have. To register in advance or for further information, email biedribadzivotprieks@inbox.lv.

The event is being held as part of the project “Implementation of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Activities in Bauska Municipality,” under Measure 4.1.2.2, “Implementation of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Activities for the Local Community,” of the European Union Cohesion Policy Programme 2021–2027.
