The Quiet Big Bang

Emerging director Kristiāns Iesalnieks, in collaboration with dramaturg Ivo Briedis and inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s legendary film—the grotesque tragicomedy *Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb* (1964)—has created his own 21st-century version of fear. It is the emerging artist’s painfully personal response and uneasy reflection on a situation in which the world has once again gone mad and cold. In the young director’s view, “the age we live in today has become even more uncertain, today’s adversary even more abstract, and incompetence even more visible.”
