Doubt

In America, Sister Aloysius, the principal of a Catholic school, begins to suspect that the school’s priest may have committed a crime. There is no direct evidence, but the question of Father Flynn’s guilt grows more pressing. Doubt eats away at people, making it impossible to know who is right and whom to trust. Can suspicion without evidence be grounds for action? Is silence as dangerous as a false accusation? “I think this work is very relevant, given that we live in an era when a single anonymous letter can, if not destroy someone’s reputation, at least seriously damage it. Society tends to condemn and trust the loudest opinion first, even though sometimes things are not at all as they initially seem,” says director Toms Treinis.
