The Great Silent Explosion

Emerging director Kristiāns Iesalnieks, in collaboration with dramaturg Ivo Briedis and inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s legendary film—the grotesque tragicomedy *Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb* (1964)—has created his own 21st-century version about fear. It is the emerging artist’s painfully personal response and anxious reflection on a situation in which the world has once again become mad and cold. In the young director’s view, “today’s era has become even more uncertain, today’s adversary even more abstract, and incompetence even more visible.”
