The present day. A couple, both just shy of thirty. She is a children’s book author; he is a model. A poisoned silence, where every most innocent word is explosive. Artūrs Dīcis’s play is about the toxic relationship between Ārons (28) and Kortnija (28), at a point when they have already broken up but still spend time together. The story unfolds over a single day—a car journey and a hike in the forest. The play’s tone balances irony, sharp dialogue and deep tragicomedy, showing how two people who once loved each other become mutual “egomaniacs”, fighting more for their pride than for genuine reconciliation. It also asks why so many young people do not want to start families and have children. Director Reinis Suhanovs: “The production will be a relationship drama, staged as an intimate performance and built around the interplay between two actors, bringing together the clash of brutalism and poetic beauty. Together with the actors, we will try to find a way to speak to the generation living in the 2020s.”
